SUMMARY:
Several weather stations across Germany reported unusually low minimum
temperatures for late August. Readings dropped close to 0 °C even at low
elevations, with widespread values between 2–6 °C.
Such lows are rare for this time of year and have set new local records.
CLIMATE ANALYSIS:
Cold records do not negate the existence of climate change.
Climate = long-term trend, Weather = short-term local variation.
Events like this reflect atmospheric circulation patterns,
not the absence of global warming.
CLARIFICATION ON CLAIMS:
- The claim that "climate is a speculative bubble" is not supported by evidence.
- Modern warming exceeds natural cycles documented over centuries.
- Cold snaps will still occur, but globally, record heat events dominate.

SUMMARY:
Meteorologists warn of a significant late-summer outbreak of severe weather
across Europe. A deep trough linked to Ex-Hurricane Erin is expected to trigger
multi-day supercell storms with destructive winds, very large hail, flash floods,
and possible tornadoes. Rainfall totals may reach 100–200 mm, locally 300 mm.
Impacts are forecast from the Alps and N. Italy into Slovenia, Croatia,
Montenegro, and Albania.
CLIMATE CONTEXT:
- Severe convective outbreaks of this intensity are rare for late August.
- Meteorologists note that the second half of August and start of September
were historically considered among the most stable Alpine weather periods.
- Anomalies in sea surface temps and jet stream alignment may be amplifying
storm severity.
PUBLIC COMMENTARY:
Verena Tashi Yoga — "Hopefully there won’t be any serious damage and nobody harmed,
and hopefully that storm will at least end some of the wildfires."
Carol Shepherd — "What joy! I wonder what toys the military and associated
'weather' companies will be playing with throughout this little period."
Pedro Mucha — "Just a small reminder - second half of August + beginning
of September used to be considered the most stable period for the Alps."
